Bruce Maynard Quimby, age 88 of Mahtomedi, MN (formerly of St. Petersburg, FL), found peace on October 3, 2026, after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born in St. Paul, MN. Preceded in death by parents Ronald and Velma Quimby and sister Barb Mortensen. Bruce is survived by his wife of 33 years Ruth (nee Langer and Ettesvold); daughter Desiree (Sam) Cook of Clearwater, FL; son Damon (Amber) Quimby of St. Petersburg, FL; stepchildren Tami (Tim) Fagely, David (Jill) Ettesvold, Gwen (Jeff) Kingsbeck, Jack (Vicki) Ettesvold and Jennifer (Matt) Rehbein; grandchildren Brandon (Jen) Cook, Stacia (Michele) Zazzeroni, Ian (Holly) and Ashton Quimby; Step-grandchildren Sam (Ashley) and Andy (Jenna) Fagely, Joe, Alex, Summer and Michael Ettesvold, Lauren and Max Kingsbeck and Paige (Joe) Hockert; six great grandchildren and two nephews.
Bruce graduated from Murray High School in St. Paul in 1956 where he was a top-notch saxophone player in the marching band. He served in the Army and Army Reserves from 1960 to 1966. During his time in the Army Bruce developed a great appreciation for automobiles and honed his professional driving skills. Always a dapper dresser, he was a well-regarded salesman of leather goods for Amity and clothing for Men's Wearhouse. Bruce was an avid baseball fan routing for the Minnesota Twins and Tampa Bay Rays when he wasn't fishing or golfing. Family was his greatest passion; spending time with his children, grandkids, and friends in both Florida and Minnesota was at the top of his list. Bruce was best known for his big heart, love of making people laugh, and a really clean garage.
The family extends a special thank you to staff at St. Andrews Village and Boutwell's Landing for the loving care they provided to Bruce. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 19 at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center in Stillwater, MN at 5:00 pm with visitation one hour prior and a light supper following the service.
Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association of Minnesota.
