Christopher "Chris" Scott McKamie

June 29, 1974 — July 8, 2025

Age 51, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025. He is preceded in death by loved ones who welcomed him with open arms on the other side, his beloved parents, Katie and Willie McKamie; his brother, Hal McKamie; and his sisters, Valerie, Cynthia, and Ronda McKamie. He is survived by his devoted wife, Nichole Reid-Mckamie ; his daughters Kadrina Reid, Justeen Reid, Neleh Reid, and Carmella Reid; and his sons Christopher Reid, Christian Reid, and Chance Reid.

Chris was grateful for the extended family he built over the years, including the mother of two of his children, Nadine Reid, whose presence remained a meaningful part of his journey. Chris also held a special place in the lives of Shanice, Iesha, and Nehemiah who came to view him as a father figure. His legacy lives on through his granddaughter Nei'lana Lofton, along with the many other grandchildren who cherished him as "Grandpa Chris." He was a proud grandfather to Liyah Hang, Joshoua Hang, Yulie Xiong, Leonadits Xiong, Xavier Xiong, Laura Xiong, Kingsteen Xiong, Aniyah Wilson, and Ayanna Ochoa. Each of them brought him joy, laughter, and love.

He is also survived by his sister, Patricia, and his brothers, Darryl, Michael, Timothy, Kenneth, Brian, and Sean-along with many nieces and nephews who admired and cherished their Uncle Chris.

Chris was a man of few words in certain moments, but never short on expression. Around the people he loved, he could be loud, animated, and full of life-especially when sharing a story or cracking a joke. He carried wisdom with quiet strength, but wasn't afraid to speak up, especially when something mattered-or when he was just being himself. At times he'd slip in a perfectly timed joke; other times, he'd drop his two cents in a way that made you stop and think. Chris didn't always show up how people expected-but when he spoke, it was real, unfiltered, and usually came with a lesson tucked inside. His presence wasn't always loud, but it was lasting.

He enjoyed life's simple joys, and he loved spending time with family. He never failed to bring a smile, a laugh, or comfort to those around him. Whether posted at the grill perfecting his signature barbecue, listening to old-school R&B or the blues, or sitting by the lake with a fishing pole in his left hand and a beer in the right! Those were the moments where Chris felt most at peace and most himself-doing what he loved, with the people he loved. Chris brought a joyful energy that made everyone feel at home. No matter the setting, he led with love-and that signature laugh of his will never be forgotten.

His presence was a gift. His love, a lesson. His memory will never be forgotten.
