Clareen “Pat” Marie Logan passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 14, 2025. Born on March 26, 1941, in Owatonna, Minnesota, to Clarence and Evelyn Grose, she was the oldest of eight children. Her sisters fondly called her “Sissie number 1.” After the birth of her sister Elaine, the family moved to Minneapolis, where Clareen welcomed two younger brothers. As a young child, Clareen faced the heartbreak of losing her baby brother James to tuberculosis, a loss that deeply affected her. Over time, three more sisters and another brother were born, completing the family. Clareen went to Tuttle Elementary and graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1959.
In April 1961, Clareen married Jerry Logan, her husband and devoted companion for more than sixty years. They began their life together in Owatonna, then moved to Franklin when Jerry started teaching. After four years, they settled in North Branch, Minnesota, where they spent many happy years raising their four children: Kari, Kelley, Steve, and Jon. Clareen enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. She sewed clothes for her daughters, cared for a large garden, and enjoyed cooking and baking.
Beyond her four children, Clareen and Jerry opened their home to Jose’, a foreign exchange student from Brazil who quickly became like a son. His place in the family remains to this day. When Jose graduated from college, Clareen and Jerry, joined by their family, travelled to celebrate with him, embracing the chance to meet his relatives.
Once her children were grown, Clareen set her sights on a new goal and returned to college. Balancing work and study, she attended Concordia University in St. Paul, proudly earning a bachelor’s degree—a milestone that brought her immense pride and fulfilment.
After retiring, Clareen and Jerry settled in Shoreview, Minnesota, where they spent more than a decade volunteering with the Salvation Army, offering comfort and hope to those whose lives were upended by hurricanes and floods. Their kindness left a lasting impression, especially on those affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Ike. Fueled by a shared love of travel, they journeyed to all 50 states and explored many corners of the world, gathering a treasure trove of memories. For their 50th wedding anniversary, they marked the occasion with a meaningful trip to Hawaii, the 50th state. Clareen found delight in the traditions they created, especially their annual trips to Puerto Vallarta. For over 25 years, they returned to the same resort, reconnecting with familiar faces and celebrating life’s milestones together. They shared life’s milestones and became family with the friends they made there. They proudly attended weddings and baby showers of some of these friends. This gave them the opportunity to learn and immerse themselves in Mexico's culture. These adventures would become stories Clareen loved to share with those around her.
In addition to her love of travel, Clareen treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family was always at the heart of her life. She never missed a birthday, she never forgot to send cards, and she took special pride in sharing her March 26 birthday with her daughter, Kelley, her grandson, Connor, and her granddaughter, Zoe. She took her grandchildren shopping, letting them choose Christmas gifts for children in need, and taught them the joy of giving. Clareen loved attending their sporting events, and her cheering sometimes drowned out the rest of the crowd. Everyone knew when Grandma "Pat" was in the stands. Together, Clareen and Jerry built a home full of encouragement, laughter, and support, creating strong family bonds and many happy memories.
Clareen was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Evelyn Grose, and her baby brother, James Grose. She was also preceded by her brothers-in-law, James Hartle and Gene Logan; her sisters-in-law, Mary Logan and Linda Grose; and her nephew, Brian Varone.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Jerry, and her children: Kari (Grant) Perrin, Kelley DeLaCruz, Steve (Kim) Logan, and Jon (Jen) Logan. Clareen is also survived by 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and another expected in February. Her beloved sisters, the "Sissies": Elaine, Judie, Joni, and Merijean; brothers Tom and Patrick; sister-in-law Jo Hartle; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of Clareen’s life will take place at Bradshaw Funeral Home, 4600 Greenhaven Drive, White Bear Lake, at 12:00 PM on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Visitation will begin one hour before the service. Everyone is welcome to join the reception afterwards in Bradshaw Community Hall. The family will have a private burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna at a later date.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Atlas Villas in Centerville, Minnesota. Their gentle care and thoughtful attention brought comfort and warmth to Clareen’s final days. The staff’s joyful outings and genuine kindness made Clareen feel truly cherished. In her brief time at Atlas, she discovered a second family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the Logan Family, who will use them to support causes that honour Clareen’s memory.
