Clemens "Clete" Cletus Bushard Jr.

Clemens C. "Clete" Bushard, Jr., age 89,

longtime resident of May Township, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026. Preceded in death by wife Sandra S. Bushard, and siblings Patricia Boland, Louis Bushard, and Sharon Bushard. Survived by siblings Catherine Bushard, Lawrence (Angie) Bushard, Robert Bushard, Terrance Bushard, and Mary Ann Bushard, sister-in-law Maureen Bushard, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Born in New Ulm, the family moved to St. Paul in 1951, where Clete attended Central High, meeting his many lifetime "League" of friends. Clete served in the U.S. Army 1954-1957. He and Sandy married in 1970, and they built their sanctuary in the woods outside of Marine-on-St. Croix in the mid-1970's, where they enjoyed daily visits from deer, raccoons, birds, and where they cared for their various cats over the years. Clete worked in accounting services for Minnesota Mutual and Jewish Family and Children's Service. In his spare time, he enjoyed long bike rides, golf, canoeing, bowling, and traveling. Clete was thankful to his neighbors who made it possible for him to stay in his home until 2022 when he moved into senior living, ultimately at Seven Hills in St. Paul.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, September 18, 2026, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. with time of sharing at 11:30 and lunch to follow at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater, MN. Donations to an animal shelter or food shelf of your choice would be appreciated.
