Age 90, of Stillwater, passed away peacefully September 3, 2026.
Survived by husband, John; children, Bret (Christine), Joleen (Rick) and Kathleen (Bryan). 3 grandchildren, Chad, Bekki and Kory. 5 great-grandchildren; Riley, Savannah, Darlene, Delaney and Star. sisters, Betty Quien and Glenda Lehman; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
John and Colleen met at American Electronics in NE Minneapolis and married in 1961. In 1966 John and Colleen took over Shorty Cleaner Launderer from John’s father and ran it for 30 plus years before passing it on to daughter Joleen and business partner Carol Eggers, they operated the business until 2020.
Colleen had a horse and John had a boat and soon the two embarked on a wonderful life together, recently celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary on August 19th. John and Colleen raised one son and two daughters. With a pontoon on the St Croix River and a cabin in the Wisconsin woods where they spent many weekends trail riding with their Tennessee Walking horses. In later years they spent winters in Arizona and traveling the western US.
Colleen gracefully battled cancer for two years. During that time, she had no pain and very little discomfort. She passed away peacefully in John’s arms.
Mass of Christian Burial Friday, September 11, 2026, 11:00 A.M. at Church of St. Michael, 611 South 3rd Street, Stillwater with visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment St. Michael’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Lakeview Hospice.
