Age 100, of St. Paul
Died peacefully at United Hospital on August 5, 2015, from complications following hip surgery. Born March 28, 1915 to English immigrants Austin and Blanche Dingle on their farm in Dickey, ND, Dallas was the 2nd of 4 children. After graduating from Dickey School, Dallas began working for Northern Pacific Railroad. He married Frances Flannigan in 1941. The couple began a family in Jamestown, ND with the birth of daughter Karen (Rose). Their family continued to grow as Dallas was transferred for work. Daughter Diane (Herzog) and sons Jim and Dallas were born in Washington; daughter Doreen in Staples, MN; and daughter Donna in St. Paul. He spent his entire career with the railroad, retiring as Superintendent Air Brake Systems - Maintenance for Burlington Northern in 1980. Frances passed away in 1995. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, supporting his children in their endeavors and caring for his grandchildren. In his last 14 years, Dallas lived with daughter Donna, son-in-law Kristo Sween, and their three children. A firm believer in exercise, Dallas walked every day. He remained curious and inquisitive in spite of his battle with dementia, and regularly impressed people with his capabilities. Dallas is survived by his 6 children, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
