Emblem

Daniel "Dan" E. Frigon, 91, of North Oaks, MN, formerly of Duluth, MN and Fountain Hills, AZ; passed away peacefully at home on April 17, 2024 with his beloved wife, Mary, by his side. He was born January 25, 1933 in Cloquet, MN to Daniel and Rose (Meisner) Frigon.

Dan graduated from Cloquet High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army Security Agency (ASA) in Korea from 1952-55. He married Mary Lou Boyer on August 3, 1957 in Cloquet, MN, and they celebrated 66 years of marriage last August. Dan and Mary welcomed three children during the first two years of their marriage, and a fourth child eight years later. The tales of parenting three children under the age of one year are the fodder for abundant family folklore.

Dan worked for Minnesota Power (Alete) for his entire career; starting as a draftsman in Cloquet, followed by District Manager in Sandstone, and finally as Director of Safety, Claims, and Security in the Duluth office. Dan served his community in the Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, Parish Council, and Knights of Columbus. He was a past member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Duluth Heights, where he served Mass until he was 83 years old.

Dan and Mary were snowbirds to Fountain Hills, AZ for 27 years. There, they enjoyed family, friends, and many happy adventures. Dan loved fly fishing, music, flying airplanes, model railroads, hiking in the desert, and weekly trap shooting with his buddies. He always hosted the guys afterwards for hot coffee, delicious baked goods, and lively conversation. He was a fabulous storyteller with a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Dan was highly respected and well liked in all his endeavors.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gerald (Donna). He will be greatly missed by his wife, Mary; and children Laura (Mike Konop) Mayer of Centerville, MN; Tim (Barb) of Chandler, AZ; Tom (Deoloris) of Goodyear, AZ; and Mike (Briana Davis) of White Bear Township, MN; grandchildren Ryan (Audrey) Mayer of Shoreview, MN; Jennifer (Craig Love)Frigon of San Tan Valley, AZ; Amanda (Matthew) Manning of San Tan Valley, AZ; Katherine(Brendan Rohde) Mayer of St. Paul, MN; Daniel (Michelle) Frigon of Phoenix, AZ; and Michael Frigon of Goodyear, AZ. Additionally, Dan is survived by four great-grandchildren: Molly Mayer, Emily Manning, Elizabeth Manning, and Arlo Rohde; and numerous relatives and friends.
