Daniel Hugh Hazelton passed away on April 30, 2025 at Encore Memory Care in Hugo, Minnesota at the age of 86. Per his request the rite of cremation has been accorded and no services will be held.
Dan was born on July 12, 1938 in Buffalo, New York, the oldest of six children to Howard and Evelyn Hazelton. He was united in marriage to Judith Mish on October 1, 1960 at Holy Trinity Church, Niagara Falls, New York.
Dan attended Erie County Technical College before spending 3 years in the Army, stationed in Maryland. He then attended the University of Baltimore, graduating in 1965. He received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University while residing with his family in the Chicago suburb of Downers Grove.
He spent the majority of his career with International Harvester, and then held executive positions with Tenneco and AGCO, retiring in 2000.
Over the span of 30 years Dan’s career took him and his family from Baltimore to Memphis, TN, Danville, CA and Downers Grove, IL. He and Judy later lived in Atlanta, GA, St. Charles, IL, Davenport, IA and Woodbury, MN.
Dan cherished his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and Judy loved attending their many sporting events, plays, choir concerts, orchestra concerts, dance recitals and were very proud of their accomplishments. They were also able to travel extensively with their friends over the years.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife of almost 65 years, Judy; son Brian (Kerry) of Lake Elmo, MN, daughters Erin (Tom) McKay of Davenport, IA and Nancy of Minneapolis, MN; six grandchildren: Emily, Matthew (Devari), Alexa (Garrett), William, Lily and Gillian; three great-grandchildren: Hadley, Freya and Charlie.
Dan is also survived by his younger sisters Mary (Dan), Kay (Jim) and Sheila; brother in-law Ron; and several nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Evelyn; stepmother Winnie; his sisters Betsy and Susie; brothers in-law Bob, Jerry, and Don; and sister in-law, Ruth.
The family would like to thank the caring staffs of Encore Memory Care and St. Croix Hospice for keeping Dan safe and comfortable over the last few months.
