Daryl "Chuck" Nelson, beloved husband, father
grandfather, great-grandfather. At age 81, Chuck passed away at home on Sunday, June 19, 2016, surrounded by family. Chuck is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Lori (Mark) Olson, Lynn (Ken) Denn, Jim (Teresa) Nelson, and David (Amy) Nelson; step-children, Stacey Larsen, Susan (Brent) Nygaard, and Sheri (Mark) Brooks; grandchildren, Kyle (Katie) Metz, Abby Olson, Adam Olson, Hannah (Jeff) Nolan, Haley Nelson, Josiah Nelson, Blake Nygaard, Connor Nygaard, Carter Nelson, Peyton Nelson; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Tyler Metz; brother, Bruce (Bobbie) Nelson. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents. An engineer at heart, Chuck could fix anything and was detail-driven. He enjoyed traveling, both for leisure and for mission. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy, and loved reading WWII history. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved canoeing, fishing and hunting. He was passionate about all he believed, and was unwavering in his faith. A truly generous soul, Chuck is helping to educate countless students in the medical field by donating his body to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest program. A service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Eagle Brook Church, 2401 Buffalo St., White Bear Lake, with visitation one hour prior. Memorials preferred to family.
