Born on August 28, 1954, in Stillwater, MN, Dave grew up in Withrow, where he spent his youth working on the family farm and cultivating a lifelong love for the outdoors. His passion for nature extended into a strong commitment to conservation, particularly through ethical and responsible hunting. Dave firmly believed that hunters play a critical role in preserving habitats and wildlife populations. He often spoke about the importance of passing down this understanding to future generations, a legacy he actively shared with his children.
Dave dedicated many years of service to Andersen Windows, taking pride in his work across various roles. After retiring early, he embraced life fully. Spending his days in the great outdoors, attending hunting banquets, playing softball, dominating in trap league, fishing from his pontoon, or mapping out poker strategies at Running Aces.
A true sportsman and adventurer, Dave never sat still for long. Whether in a duck blind, deer stand, at a Vikings game bleeding purple, or shouting from the stands at a Twins game, he was always chasing the next great memory. His texts were often a mix of thoughtful wildlife articles and perfectly timed memes, always reminding his loved ones he was thinking of them.
The loss of his son Cole was a turning point in his life. In the years that followed, time with family became even more treasured. Reconnecting with his old flame, Kathy, brought healing, laughter, and a depth of love that gave him peace and joy beyond measure.
Dave’s legacy is one of adventure, laughter, deep connection, and unwavering love for the natural world. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
