David Reishus

David Scott Reishus passed away peacefully on April 7th, 2023, at the age of 65.

Born to W. Dale and Donna Mae Reishus on November 8th, 1957 in Clarkfield, MN. The youngest of the three children, David was blessed to grow up in Cottonwood, MN and it always has held a special place in his heart.

David graduated from Concordia College in 1980 with a degree in criminal justice. Even throughout his college years, David would always return to Cottonwood and play in the yearly Broomball Tournament, embracing Minnesota winters with joy and adventure along with his siblings.

David dedicated his career to the state of Minnesota. His impeccable work ethic quickly advanced him from prison guard at Stillwater Prison to Warden of Oak Park Height Prison. During this time, David met the love of his life, Sheryl, and they spent the next 39 years raising their two boys and enjoying all that life has to offer. A fan till the end, David rooted for the Minnesota Twins. When he wasn't coaching his son's baseball teams, he was supporting the Twins as a security guard, always cheering for the home team. An avid bird hunter and fisherman, David treasured the summer trips he would take with his family and friends. Soaking in all that nature has to offer and sharing a toast over a deliciously cooked meal. His artistic side was fed by singing in church choir and listening to classical music David embraced every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. Over the past year, David was honored and giddy with excitement to watch his grandson grow, adoring each new little giggle and smile.

David's infectious personality and humor brought laughter and love to all those who knew him. From the quick one-liners to the wink or smile, David made each person who he met feel at ease. David forged lifelong friendships that he always cherished. Never taking life too seriously, but always keeping God and Family first. His faith brought him peace, through scripture and hymns, enjoying each waking moment. The memories David took great pride in creating will forever be remembered.

David is survived by the love of his life and his bride of 39 years, his sons, his grandson, his mother, his brother, sister, and many cherished nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, W. Dale Reishus.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:00pm Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at BRADSHAW, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd, Stillwater, MN. A visitation will be one hour prior. Memorials and donations preferred to Ducks Unlimited or Mayo Clinic.
