Deacon Dick Peterson

Richard (Dick) Peterson, age 72, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He lived nearly all his years in the communities of Somerset and Osceola, WI, devoting himself to faith, family, and service.

After graduation from Somerset High School, Dick began a career in the lumber industry. A man of deep conviction and gentle strength, Dick then answered a lifelong calling to serve others, ultimately becoming a devoted Catholic Deacon. Through decades of ministry, he touched countless lives with his compassion, humility, and unwavering dedication to the Church. Whether offering comfort in difficult times, celebrating life’s joyful moments, or lending a listening ear, he served with a kindness that uplifted everyone he met.

Above all, Dick cherished his family. He was a proud and loving father to his only son, Josh, and a joyful ‘Papa’ to his cherished granddaughters, Hattie and Edith. He also cared deeply for Josh’s wife, Valerie, who he welcomed as a treasured part of his family. His legacy lives on through the values he instilled—faith, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to caring for others.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Beverly Peterson, and sister, Jean Peterson. He is survived by his son, Josh Peterson (Valerie), and granddaughters Hattie and Edith; siblings, Marcia Mittledorf, Myrna Plourde, and Mary Beth (Terry) Eckstrom; and many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his warm smile, his gentle humor, and his enduring spirit of service.

A visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00am on January 9, 2026, at The Church of Saint Anne, 141 Church Hill Road, Somerset, WI. Mass will follow, with a private internment at cemetery.
