Debra "Debbie" Marsh
Age 68 of White Bear Lake passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 18th.
Debra Ann Lauritzen was born August 19, 1956 to Theodore and Lorraine Lauritzen, living in St. Paul Minnesota. Debbie's first job was working part time while still in high school, behind the counter of the S&H Green Stamps store in St. Paul, exchanging small appliances and goods for Green Stamp books. After graduating from Johnson High school in 1974 she went to work for West Publishing in the Manuscript Department for nearly 20 years.
In 1982, she met Charlie Marsh through a Christian dating service. Their first date was supposed to last for just 1 hour, but instead lasted all day and into evening, and a year later they were married. Debbie's mom Lorraine wasn't too happy about her daughter dating a long-haired bearded guy, but he got cleaned up by the time of the wedding. They spent their 1 week honeymoon at a dude ranch near Branson, Missouri, then moved into Charlie's house in White Bear Lake for the next 42 happy years. Debbie always had a dog in the home.
In 1990, Debbie let Charlie talk her into buying a 26-foot-long sailboat that they sailed on White Bear Lake and later on Lake Pepin at Lake City Minnesota. About this time Debbie began collecting Precious Moments figurines and bought 5 or 10 a year for the next 34 years. Deb also enjoyed bowling, counted cross stitch, plastic canvas, cards games and was an avid reader of mystery books.
In 2015, Debbie retired from AT&T Cellular where she worked in sales and customer service. During her working years she enjoyed going to Las Vegas once or twice a year, and after retirement she enjoyed going to Laughlin, Nevada. She also enjoyed supporting local Native American business ventures. In 2015, Debbie and Chuck started wintering in Texas near South Padre Island to escape the snow, and in 2022 they bought a second home there to enjoy the ocean.
Debbie was the heart of our marriage and gave generously to human health and animal adoption charities. Her sudden and unexpected passing has left a huge void in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Lorraine. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 42 years, Charles; sister-in-law, Marlene (Dale) Howey; niece and nephew, Kristen and Anthony Howey; great niece, Savanna; and many beloved friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 28th from 2-4 at Bradshaw Funeral Home, 4600 Greenhaven Drive.
