Age 79 passed away on March 1, 2026.
Preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and Paul Hays.
Survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen (Willer) Hays; son, Ian Hays; and daughter, Kirstin (Dustin) Vincent; as well as two grandchildren, Liesl Vincent and Crosby Vincent.
Dennis served in Vietnam as a medic, and when he was discharged from the Army was awarded a Bronze Star. Upon his return home, he continued his college education at the University of Minnesota, completing his BS degree and PharmD degrees.
After graduating with his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1975 from the University of Minnesota, he and his wife moved to New York City to start his career in a joint position with Mount Sinai Hospital and Columbia University School of Pharmacy. From there, he acquired a position as an Assistant Director of Pharmacy with the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Later, he accepted a position as Director of Pharmacy with Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. His final position from which he retired was with MediSpan/FirstDatabank in Indianapolis, Indiana where he managed a department that compiled pharmaceutical database information used in hospitals, pharmacies, and clinical settings.
Celebration of Life 11am Saturday, May 30th at Bradshaw, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd., Stillwater, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Private family burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
