Denny Prothero
Of Stillwater, 68, formerly of Hibbing, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 1, 2022.
A kind and intelligent friend to many in his community, he will be remembered by his love of music, creative endeavors, heart for service and sense of humor. Denny was forever young and never bored nor beholden to any one interest; he was an auto mechanic, volunteer firefighter, Army veteran, multi-instrumental musician, radio DJ, actor, and karaoke star.
After an auto accident in 2004 left him quadriplegic, he inspired many with his optimism and good-humored nature in the face of life-altering adversity. He passed with the hope that his story will bring help to others in need.
Denny is preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Phyllis; his step-mother, Dee; and his beloved four-legged companion, Hemi. He was a loving father of Brittany (Kyle) Deneys, Chelsey (Adam) Klover, Kaitlyn (Ryan) Holmquist and his service dog, Summer (his “little girl”). He will be dearly missed by grandchildren Emmett, Tobias and Flynn; siblings Gayle King, Ken Odegaard, David (Ana Manwaring) Prothero, Cliff (Sharon) Odegaard and Joni (Jeff) McBrien; many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
