Devin Paul Melzer
Age 24, of St. Paul & Minneapolis
Devin passed away on May 14, 2025. He was a devoted son, brother, grandson, cousin and friend who brought light and laughter wherever he went. A lifelong athlete, Devin played sports from childhood through college, embracing teamwork and competition with passion. He shared a special bond with his brothers—whether at the movies or the gym, those moments meant the world to him. Devin worked at L.C.S. Lawn and Care for the past year.
Devin had a magnetic presence. He lit up every room with his energy, humor, and unmistakable voice. Holidays and family gatherings weren’t complete without him—he always showed up, always made them better. His appetite for life was as big as his love for food, and he was rarely seen without a plate in hand and a smile on his face.
He was loyal, kind, and deeply committed to the people in his life. Devin had a natural gift for working with kids and a gentle, generous spirit that made him a role model to many. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word—a loving soul who will be missed beyond words.
Devin is preceded in death by his grandparents, Teresa Melzer and Richard Mercherson; his uncle, Brian Weiss; and his great-grandparents, Naomi and Bud Melzer, Carol Rinehart and great-grandfather Richard Schneider.
He is survived by his parents, Rich Melzer, Angela and Travis Chalupsky; his brothers, Tyler and Garrett Chalupsky, Jameson and Mason Melzer, and Ty Vinje; his grandparents, Rick and Kim Rinehart, Sue and Mike Smith, and Vicki Stoll; his great-grandparents, Ruth Schneider and Dick Rinehart; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of Devin's life will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 27th, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 900 Stillwater Rd., Mahtomedi, with visitation beginning at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family’s ask instead share memorial donations to YouthLink, an organization that serves young people experiencing homelessness and brings resources to those who need it most.
