Donald "Don" Joseph Norbin

Age 75, passed away on September 2, 2025, in Lake Elmo, Minnesota from the effects of Lewy Body Dementia.

Born on June 30, 1950, in Utica, New York. He pursued his education at Clarkson College, earning his BS in Civil Engineering. Don dedicated his professional life to a life-long career in public service. It was his work with the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission that brought him to Minnesota from New York in 1975, where he spent his entire professional career until his retirement in 2015, contributing to essential infrastructure that served countless communities. He was proud to be part of a team that helped improve the water quality in the Mississippi River watershed.

Don was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from time spent with those he loved. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Jane Ann Norbin; his daughters, Carrie Norbin Killoran (Grant Killoran) and Abigail Norbin McKenzie (Ryan McKenzie); and his son, Andrew Donald Norbin (Michelle (Good) Norbin). He also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Owen Killoran, Maggie Killoran, Molly McKenzie, Lincoln McKenzie, and Mia Norbin. His sister Barbara Jean Norbin and brother-in-law Jim Edmond also mourn his passing.

A passionate sports enthusiast throughout his life, Don was an avid baseball fan who followed both the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins with enthusiasm. His love of the outdoors led him on many hiking and camping adventures over the years—experiences he often shared with family and friends.

Don generously gave his time to his community by coaching youth softball and baseball for many years. His guidance left a lasting impression on many young athletes who benefited from his encouragement and leadership.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald F. Norbin (1927–2015) and Lila B. Norbin (1927–2018) of Utica, New York.

Don’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched—as a loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and dear friend.

Many thanks to the staff at Boutwells Landing and Lakeview Hospice for their kind, compassionate care.
