Donald “Don” Herbert Roll, Age 62, of Stillwater, Minnesota. Born April 22, 1963, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Don passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2025. Known for his infectious smile, kind heart, and unshakable positivity, Don brought light and joy to the lives of everyone he knew. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
Don was preceded in death by his loving father, Donald Harvey Roll, as well as his constant companion, his little dog, Connie. He is survived by his devoted mother, Wanda; his cherished sister, Pam (Bill) Sparks; nephews, Nicholas (Haley) Sparks and Ryan (Haley) Sparks; great-nephews, Ryker, Gentry, and Cooper; great-niece, Oakley; his beloved cats, Mr. Ray and Snook; and countless friends, colleagues, and fellow members of the dance community.
Don grew up in Belton, Missouri, a place he always considered home. He graduated from Belton High School in 1981, where his passions for learning, adventure, and camaraderie became evident. Don played football, wrestled competitively, and was an active participant in Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout for Troop 111. His dedication earned him the prestigious God and Country Award, bestowed through his beloved Belton Christian Church, where he was baptized and remained a devout Christian throughout his life.
Don’s academic journey continued at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he graduated in 1985 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. His career spanned 36 dedicated years as a Technical Consultant for water treatment facilities with Nalco Water, an Ecolab Company. Don’s expertise, professionalism, and commitment to excellence made him a treasured colleague and mentor to many.
Don’s passion for dance and music played a huge role in his life. He was actively involved in the dance community, attending Dance and Entertainment Studios in Stillwater, MN, participating with Minnesota West Coast Swing Dance Club, SWINGesota, and Twin Cities Rebels. A talented competition dancer, Don combined grace and energy on the dance floor, leaving audiences and dance partners in awe. He also served as the treasurer and on the Board of Directors for Minnesota West Coast Swing Dance Club, where his commitment and leadership were invaluable. Affectionately known as “DJ Don,” he was the trusted DJ for these organizations, bringing joy to events with his skill, smile, and unwavering dedication to the art of dance.
Every year, Don enjoyed dancing at the Minnesota State Fair, an event he eagerly anticipated. Family would travel up from home to watch him, sharing in his passion and pride. He loved showing off his dance moves and the thrill of performing before an enthusiastic crowd.
Don’s many passions included attending Scout Camp at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation and being a member of the Micosay Scout Tribe. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to his faith, family, and friends. His care and compassion were unparalleled. If you ever needed a friend, a shoulder to lean on, or a reason to smile, Don was just a phone call away. His joy was contagious, and his enduring light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved him.
We know that Don is dancing in heaven, radiating the same joy and light that he shared with us in his earthly life. His legacy of kindness, music, and movement will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.
