Donald "Don" Robert Singer
Age 90, of Lake Elmo, MN
Passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 7, 2026, with Lakeview Hospital Hospice Care by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Singer and LaVerne Bennett.
Don will be deeply missed by the love of his life and wife of over 65 years, Loretta; his children, Mike (Lynn), Matt (Catherine), Mark (Kate), and Mitch (Jen); nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters Toni (Dexter) Ziton and Elizabeth Wilson; brother Dan Singer; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members.
Don was born in Saint Paul and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in 1954. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the destroyer USS Eaton (DDE-510), where he was assigned to payroll. On May 6, 1954, in heavy fog off the Virginia Capes, his ship collided with the battleship USS Wisconsin (BB-64). Fortunately, everyone survived. After two years of active duty, Don continued serving his country in the U.S. Navy Reserve out of the Duluth Naval Reserve Center for several more years.
Don worked for 43 years as a printing pressman at Webb Publishing/Quebecor and served for 26 years as a representative for the Twin Cities Printing Trades Union Local 29.
In high school, Don lettered in swimming, bowling, and gymnastics. He remained an avid bowler throughout his life, participating in several leagues over the years. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and playing poker. Don and Loretta were world travelers, with Las Vegas holding a special place as his favorite destination.
As a devoted father, Don rarely missed any of his four boys' activities-whether baseball, football, soccer, tennis, or hockey. Sports and gaming were lifelong passions, and he remained active up until his passing, participating in fantasy football leagues and enjoying Slotomania.
A service celebrating Don's life will be held at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 8260 4th St N, Oakdale, MN, on Tuesday, February 24, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and Mass at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will follow burial at Guardian Angels.
