Douglas Albert Bergen

Died on October 7, 2026 of natural causes. He was born on May 11, 1958 in Stillwater, MN.

He graduated from Stillwater Senior High School in 1976. While a student there, he swam on Brian Luke's champion swimming team. In his senior year, he received Kolliner's "Most Valuable Athlete" Award. He went on to swim at Stout University and went to nationals, missing being named an "All-American" by less than a second.

Doug graduated from Stout University in Industrial Technology and worked in this field for most of his career. Doug loved the outdoors and the beauty of nature. Taking regular fishing trips in northern Minnesota with Bruce and Matt Junker brought him great joy.

Family was key to Doug's life. He enjoyed family gatherings, and being a part of his nephew and nieces family's lives. His kindness and thoughtfulness will be missed.

Doug is survived by his mother, Gayle Lobitz; brothers, Stephen (Sarah Johnson), Jim; and stepbrother, Ben. Doug is also survived by two nieces, Kaija and Annika (Mike Erickson); and one nephew, Collin Bushman (Jill), two grandnieces and two grandnephews. He is preceded in death by his dad, Bruce (Linda), and half-sister, Kelly.

A celebration of Doug's life will be Monday, October 19, 2026, 11:00 A.M. at Bradshaw, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater with visitation one hour prior to the service.
