Dr. Ned Wesley Windmiller

On April 29, 2026 the world lost a man filled with generosity, joy and light. Dr. Ned Wesley Windmiller, born October 6, 1950 in Stillwater, Minnesota, had a kind heart and was loved by many. Ned married his high school sweetheart, Chris (Carlson), to whom he was married for 52 years. Their three children and their grandkids were his greatest source of pride.

An innovator and a pioneer of his profession, Ned loved every day of being a dentist. He opened his practice immediately out of dental school in 1976, in his hometown of Stillwater, Minnesota, where he spent his career and retired in 2020. As an AACD accredited cosmetic dentist he traveled the world to speak about the most innovative techniques, materials and methods of his profession. Throughout his career he helped create many beautiful and life changing smiles. His patients and staff held a special place in his heart and remain an important part of his legacy.

Ned was an avid golfer most of his life, rushing to the first tee on countless afternoons to meet buddies at Stillwater Country Club. He also loved traveling to play beautiful golf courses with friends and spending time on the course with his kids. He was faithful to his First Presbyterian church community, serving as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, and Elder. Ned loved to entertain, and he and Chris were the perfect team. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and at ease. He had a song for nearly every moment; a lyric always at the ready to match the mood or the conversation.

Some of his happiest moments were the simple ones; gathered around a delicious meal with people he loved, camera in hand on a family vacation, or chatting with friends and family at happy hour. Throughout Ned’s life, his favorite place was the family cabin on Blanche Lake. He would arrive, kick off his shoes, and head straight to the dock; a place he could truly relax and recharge with his Blanche Lake family.

In 2020 he was diagnosed with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) a rare neurological disease. He faced the disease and its symptoms with grace and a positive attitude to the end. Despite his condition, he continued to find beauty in life and exude kindness to all those who surrounded him.

Ned is survived by his loving wife, Chris Windmiller (Carlson), their son, Max (Heidi), their daughters, Mollie (Brandon Dixon) and Whitney Blasko (Greg), and their grandkids Ried and Vera Windmiller, Lidia and Edie Dixon and Baby Blasko due in October. Ned was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Henry Windmiller, mother, Ruth Marie Windmiller (Yetter) and sister, Nancy Windmiller.

A celebration of life will be held at Bradshaw Funeral & Cremation in Stillwater, Minnesota at 1pm on Friday, May 15th. The family will receive friends and family following the service. Ned requested that color be worn to his celebration of life. Memorial donations can be made to CurePSP through Mayo Clinic where Ned donated his brain tissue to further the quest for treatment of PSP.
