Edward "Ed" Paul Bieging Jr
Age 65 of Stillwater, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7th, 2025.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents Ed Sr. and Inge Bieging of Stillwater and Forchheim, Germany.
He will be forever remembered by his loving wife of 42 years, Lori; children Margot(Blake) Kraemer and Erik; grandchildren Lilah, Caroline, Blaire, and Shepherd; siblings Sue(Steve) Dowdall and Gary(Jenny) Bieging; and many beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and other family.
Ed grew up on the South Hill of Stillwater where he found joy in any type of athletic competition. From the Old Athletic field, Triangle Park, the Main Street Stairs, to Pony Stadium, Ed found tremendous joy in any sporting activity. Recognized as a stand-out athlete, he continued his love for athletics and health by pursuing lifelong sports. Not only did he participate, but he coached, mentored, and challenged anyone he encountered to be active and enjoy the outdoors. He continued being active until losing his battle against Lou Gehrig's Disease(ALS).
Ed was a third-generation Xcel Energy employee, starting his career on the gas line and working his way up to management. He finished his career with GeoTek of Stewartville where he was honored with a building dedication, the "Edward P. Bieging Jr. Test Lab For Fiberglass Pole Development".
Ed found tremendous joy in being with his family and spending time outdoors, specifically on the North Shore. He loved his time spent bringing his grandchildren to their activities and cherished the moments he had joking, laughing, and growing together, and looked forward to watching them as they found their own joys in new experiences. He loved working out with his son, Erik, as well as working on projects together.
Ed believed that his friends, new and old, were like family. He always believed that having a circle of friendships, community, and support were the impetus to joy and success. He was a loyal friend to many.
Ed and Lori made it a point to spend time in the garden together and around the house in order to have an inviting home for everyone to gather. Ed believed that a home was only made if it was filled with love and people. It is fitting that he passed during a beautiful sunset, surrounded by family at home.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 16th from 5-7p.m. at Saint Andrew's Lutheran Church, 900 Stillwater Road, Mahtomedi. A subsequent service celebrating Ed's life will take place the following day on Thursday, July 17th at 11a.m. with a visitation beginning an hour prior.
Memorial donations may be made in Ed's name to Lakeview Hospice, ALS, or any youth athletic organization in the St. Croix Valley
