Elizabeth “Liz” Albrecht Schiferl, age 67, passed away at home in Saint Paul, Minnesota on February 26th, 2026, surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Jan (Schmidt) Albrecht.
Liz is survived by her husband, Rich; children, Sam (Ayla), Annie (Kevin), and Simon; sister, Kiri Albrecht Riehle McKibbins (Jay); cats, Walter, Stanley, and Howard; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Liz grew up in Mankato, Minnesota and also spent time in Indiana, Wisconsin, South Carolina, and Ohio before moving back to Saint Paul, MN to retire.
She was a wonderful mom, sister, and wife and approached life with curiosity and generosity, always eager to provide life guidance to others and to gift her time to volunteer organizations. Liz was always active and enjoyed running, biking, hiking, and swimming. Many also knew her as an avid thrifter, art fair enthusiast, Minnesota State Fair lover and frequent National Parks visitor; especially the Grand Canyon. As a statistician, she spent over 30 years in a job she loved where she enjoyed helping others understand their data. One of her favorite sayings was “there’s a difference between not knowing and not knowing yet.”
In lieu of flowers, Liz requested donations to the ACLU.
