Plocher, Elvera Mimi (Olson)
Died at Cerenity Care Center in White Bear Lake on Oct. 19, 2012. She was 94. Elvera was born at home on August 31, 1918 in St. Paul, MN. Survived by sons, Michael Plocher (Wyn) of White Bear Lake & Thomas Plocher (Dr. Rebecca Ratcliff) of Hugo; grandchildren, Mollie Plocher Byzewski (Raymond) & Barry Plocher (Sarah) of Portland, OR, Dr. Elizabeth Plocher of Buffalo, NY, Lindsay Markworth (Kameron) of Middletown, NY, & Benjamin Plocher of Hugo; great-grandchildren, Madison & Hallie Byzewski, & Tyler & Caroline Plocher, of Portland, OR; cousin, Ingemar Olsson (Inger) of Boras, Sweden; along with countless cousins and their extended families in the Midwest, Wyoming, Texas and California. Elvera had many friends from both White Bear Lake and her childhood home on East Magnolia in St. Paul. Preceded in death by husband of 50 years and WWII veteran, Howard Fred Plocher; brother and WWII veteran, Wilford Olof Olson; mother, Esther Olson (Peterson); and father, Herman Olson. Elvera was a member of First Lutheran Church of White Bear Lake. During her working years, Elvera was employed by the Northern Pacific Railroad and School District 624 from which she retired. Elvera was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker and cook. Many of her recipes have been passed down through the years. She enjoyed gardening and growing indoor plants, being particularly fond of the African Violet. She loved Chinese food, bird watching, canning, sewing, reading the paper, writing letters and the holiday season. A special thanks to the staff of Cerenity Care Center where Elvera lived for over 9 years. A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 4 - 7 P.M. at the Cerenity Care Center Activity Room, 1891 Florence Street, White Bear Lake. Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Apple Tree Dental.
