Gary Edward Immel

d. July 22, 2023

Stillwater

Gary E. Immel, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Stillwater on July 22, 2023. Gary was born in Green Bay, the son of the late Edward and Audrey (Bettine) Immel.

He is a 1965 graduate of Premontre High School, earned a B.S. degree at St. Norbert College and an Engineering Degree from Marquette University. Upon graduation he joined his uncle at Immel Construction, which he and his brother later owned until 2008. Among their many projects was the relocation and re-siting of the many historical buildings comprising Wisconsin's Heritage Hill Park.

Gary lived most of his life in Green Bay and was an avid reader, a lifelong cyclist, and a passionate Packers fan. He spent his Sundays in the fall watching the games and biking afterwards to relieve the stress.

He is survived by his brother, Greg (Rita) Immel, sister Marsha (Donne) Cornell and is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Immel. He has three children, Meghan (Jason) Quinn, Sean (Elibeth) Immel, Mary (AJ) Nutt, and four grandchildren.

Upon retirement Gary reconnected with high school friend, Sandra Drath. They married in 2008 and celebrated their 15 year anniversary on the Summer Solstice.  They moved to Stillwater and spent their winters on the island of St. Croix, USVI. Gary loved the Caribbean culture, his friends, island festivals and parades, snorkeling and walking beaches with his soulmate. He has two step-children, Jennifer (Scott) Clark and Ethan (Tarah) Arnold and four step-grandchildren.

Gary's memorial service will be performed by his nephew Father Eric Immel on August 12th, at 3:00 PM at Heritage Hill Park. Reception follows.
