Gaylen W. Springborn

Age 75, of Lake Elmo, passed away unexpectedly on December 26, 2022.

Preceded in death by parents, Howard and Irene.

Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Wanda; children, Thea (Kyle) Kogler, Lance (Teresa) and Richie (Beth); grandchildren, Morgan, McKenzie, Meyer and Hayden;
step-grandchildren, Austin, Melissa, Courtney, Travis and Evan; sisters, Janelle (Robert) Peterson and Lori (George) Dimmick; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

A kind, loving, and gentle husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. Commonly known by his grandkids as "Papa". Gaylen was well known in the Lake Elmo community where he grew up on the family farm. Gaylen continued the farming business as a 3rd generation farmer. During his high school years, Gaylen met his loving and life long wife, Wanda. They married on September 26, 1970 and resided on the family farm where they raised their 3 children. In 1972, Gaylen and Wanda along with Gaylen's parents, Howard and Irene, opened Green Acres Recreation. The family business continues to operate each winter celebrating 50 years this season.

Gaylen was well known for his lending hand, his never ending knowledge of farming, farm machinery, anything agriculture, and beyond. His willingness to always help was his general nature even if it sacrificed his time and plans. Gaylen loved unconditionally and never stopped giving. He was a man of many talents, some of which he expressed while in his skidster. Everyday, somewhere on the farm, Gaylen could be found in the skidster feeding cows, moving bales or getting someone corn. Gaylen will be joined in heaven alongside his best 4-legged friend of 15 years, his border collie, Rocco.

A celebration of Gaylen’s life will be Wednesday, January 4, 2023, 3:00 P.M. with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater.
