Foley, Reverend Gerald Kevin, age 93 of Minneapolis, died on October 22, 2025. Born in Brooks, MN on January 15, 1932 to William Foley and Alma Perras Foley. Survived by brothers Bill, Michael (JoAnn), and Alan (Jane) and sister Patricia Ruffing (John) and sister-in-law Yvonne Foley Moore. Preceded in death by sisters Mary Kennedy, Beverly Aars and brothers Larry, and Raymond Foley.
Gerald was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Crookston on June 3, 1961. He served at parishes in Dorothy, Crookston, Moorhead, Ada and Sabin, was Director Catholic Social Services in Red Lake Falls 1963-77 and served as Director of the National Catholic Rural Life Conference in Iowa in late 1970s.
In 1985, he transferred to the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, as a chaplain at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Paul, and Healtheast Hospice, active in Retourvaille, and Marriage Encounter Programs.
He was a historian and an author, writing 10 books, including a best seller Courage to Love When Your Marriage Hurts. Jerry loved working with marriage and family ministries.
He was an avid gardener for many years at Dowling Gardens in Minneapolis.
Celebration of Life Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church 701 Fillmore St NE, Minneapolis, MN. Friday, October 31, 2025. Visitation at 10:00 with Mass at 11:00.
Interment Calvary Cemetery in Kelliher, MN beside his parents, at a later date.
