Glen Robert Magnuson, age 74, of Hugo, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026.
Glen was a devoted son, brother, husband, dad, grandpa, and friend who could always make you laugh and leave you wondering what kind of adventure he was planning next.
Glen was born on July 19, 1951, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He spent much of his youth playing sports and making memories with his siblings and friends. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Washington High School in 1969. After high school, Glen enlisted in the Army and proudly served his country for two years as a paratrooper with the 4th Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division. Following his military service, Glen worked as a mail carrier for more than 40 years before enjoying a well-earned retirement.
On August 15, 1981, Glen married the love of his life, Debbie, in a beautiful ceremony. Together they settled in Lake Elmo, Minnesota, where they welcomed two wonderful children, Troy and Mandy. Glen was a devoted husband and dad who always made time for his family, whether it was spending time together on his day off, cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, or planning memorable family vacations.
Glen had a deep love for the outdoors and a passion for adventure. Whether he was birdwatching, exploring new places on foot, cycling, kayaking, camping, or simply enjoying nature, being outside brought him joy, peace, and excitement. He cherished many fishing trips and outdoor adventures with family and friends and especially looked forward to weekends
spent at deer camp. From his younger years and beyond, few things made Glen happier than taking his motorcycle out for a ride. He attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally countless times over the years, creating lasting memories and friendships along the way. Whether it was a cross-country trip or a ride down a familiar back road, Glen cherished the freedom and adventure that came with life on two wheels.
After retiring, Glen and Debbie spent many treasured summer days and evenings at their lake place on Dead Lake. Whether relaxing by the water, enjoying time with family and friends, or simply taking in a beautiful Minnesota sunset, the lake became one of Glen's favorite places to be. Those moments brought him great happiness and created memories that his family will treasure forever.
A proud grandpa, Glen adored his five grandchildren. He loved teasing them, making them laugh, and creating memories together. Whether they were playing with Nerf guns, swimming in the lake or pool, hiking, playing catch, or attending their sporting events, Glen was happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren. No matter what was happening in his life, he always made time for them. Glen was truly a man of many talents. Later in life, he discovered a passion for woodworking and created countless beautiful pieces that will be treasured and enjoyed by his family for generations to come.
Glen is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Debbie (Troje) Magnuson; his son, Troy (Courtney) Magnuson, and grandsons Hudson, Hendrix, and Hastings; his daughter, Mandy (Tony) Traxler, and granddaughters Zoe and Paige; his brothers, Ronnie (Pat) Magnuson, Al (Kim) Magnuson, and Keith (Kathy) Magnuson; his sisters, Carol Chandler and Deb (David) Weber, sister in-law Jo Magnuson; and many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Verdayne and Mildred Magnuson; his brother, Wayne Magnuson; his brother-in-law, Tim Chandler; and his beloved grandson, Gavin Traxler.
Glen will be remembered for the love he shared with his family and the many lives he touched throughout his years. His humor, wisdom, adventurous nature, and unwavering devotion to those he loved will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Whether he was riding down an open highway, casting a line into the water, sitting in a deer stand, building something with his hands, or cheering on one of his grandchildren, Glen was fully present. His love of adventure and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 27, at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center. Visitation will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by a service honoring Glen's life and legacy. Family and friends are invited to stay afterward to share stories, memories, and a meal.
A private burial will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the family will go toward creating a memorial in Glen's honor at one of his favorite local or state parks, celebrating his lifelong love of nature and the outdoors.
