Gregory James Molnar

d. February 19, 2026

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that our Gregory James Molnar, age 58, left us so unexpectedly on February 19th, 2026.

Greg is survived by his two children, son, Connor (Hope), daughter, Mackenzie (Cole); mom, Susan (Doug); dad, Jim (Joan); sister, Kathy (Todd); brother, David (Liz); nephew, Logan (Kelsey); great-nephew and nieces Max, Ruby, and Millie; niece, Emilee; his beloved dog, Maize; his adorable brand new baby grandson, Cullen, whom he loved so very deeply in the short time he knew him. Also, his aunt Bozsi and many beloved cousins and friends.

Greg was such a kind and gentle soul with a captivating personality that naturally drew people to him. He was born on May 16,1967 in Toledo, Ohio, and in 1977 at the age of 10, his family moved to Stillwater, Minnesota.

Growing up, Greg was an exceptional hockey player. By his senior year of high school, he was voted MVP of the Stillwater Ponies, leading the team in goals with 13 and finishing second in total points with 20. His skills on the ice landed him a hockey scholarship at St. John's University. His teammates described him as "lightning on ice," "a sniper," and one whose positive attitude reminded everyone that what mattered most, even in a loss, was playing for each other and having fun together. That positivity contributed to Greg still holding the record for the most short-handed goals in SJU hockey history, along with the sixth-highest overall goal total.

After college, Greg became a husband and then a father to his two children, who meant everything in the world to him. There was nothing Greg would not do for them, and if you knew him, you also knew there was nothing he wouldn't do for anyone.

In recent years, with the playing hockey days past, he focused more of his free time on his dart league and spent countless hours with his dart league "family". Greg was an above-average league dart player, known for his steady scoring and was affectionately referred to by the league as "Molesy" and "Ole Boy". There's no doubt he is now playing in the league on Team Heaven.

He will be so deeply missed, and our hearts will forever remember his smile, his wit, his laugh, his kindness, and his love.

Godspeed, Greg, as you lace up those skates and rocket your way to heaven to shoot the puck once again with your best friend, Watty.
