Harriette Mary Wock

d. January 1, 2025

Harriette Bubla Wock, a remarkable woman who touched many lives, passed away surrounded by her family at the age of 74 on January 1, 2025. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, known for her passion, resilience, and dedication to her family and community.

Harriette was married to Mike for 29 years, building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Tina, and Ryan. Tina, married to Dave Langness, and Ryan Patin, married to Emily Johnson, brought joy and pride to Harriette’s life, along with her beloved grandchildren, Maddy and Dakota.

Harriette grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, where she developed a strong work ethic and a love for adventure. At Argo High School, Harriette was a member of the National Honor Society, a participant in many plays and musicals, editor of the school newspaper, and a National Merit Scholar. After graduating from MacMurray College with a degree in theater, she moved to Minnesota to begin a career as a business analyst at prominent firms like Eco Lab, Pillsbury, and General Mills, where she was respected for her expertise and dedication.

Harriette was a woman of many diverse passions, including her love for cabin life; racing and showing horses; crafting, knitting, and crocheting; rock hounding; cooking; and gardening. She was an incredible animal lover; her many mini-dachshunds brought her immense joy and companionship. She enjoyed training a few dogs for the Canine Good Citizen (CGD) certification, racing, and obstacle courses. She was a Steven King novel aficionado, and was a fervent Minnesota Vikings fan, always cheering for her team with unwavering support.

Harriette remained positive, strong, and optimistic, surviving 22 years as a double-lung transplant recipient. Several years later, she received a kidney transplant and conquered cancer. Without her incredible medical teams at the University of Minnesota, none of this would have been possible.

Harriette was a staunch advocate for organ donation. When Harriette received her lung transplant, she was given an approximate 5-year post-transplant life expectancy, but lived 22!  This simply embodies the “gift of life” in so many ways.

Harriette was predeceased by her father Frank Bubla, mother Harriette Sellers Bubla, and brother Frank. She is survived by her sister Margaret Burgess.

Her legacy is in the lives she touched and the memories she created. Her story is a testament to a life well-lived, full of love, passion, and dedication. Harriette's memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
