Howard Branby age 87, passed away July 14, 2013 at Cerenity Care Center in White Bear Lake. Howie took pride in being 100% Norwegian, having been raised in a Norwegian community near Glenwood, MN. He learned English at Barsness Lutheran Church, where he often skied to school and loved singing in the choir. After joining the Army Air Force (WWII vet) at 18, he attended Colby College in Maine. Married to Leona (Birney), they raised 5 children: Jim, Jeanne (Tim Nelson), Jackie White (Steve White), Bill, and Howard "Mike". Preceded in death by Leona and James, and brothers Lloyd and Ralph. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, and summers on Lake Pelican, near Brainerd. Howie worked in sales most of his life and was a creative inventor of sporting good products and carpet installation machinery. Despite Alzheimer's, his long term memory remained sharp, remembering friends and family as well as songs and humor to entertain all.
