Irving Mulvey Bloom, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 18th, 2025, with family by his side. Irving (Irv) was born in Stillwater, Minnesota on September 19th, 1936. He was very proud of his Stillwater roots and at 13 years of age was the youngest to win the Minnesota State Skeet Shooting Championship. He grew up across the street from his wife of 57 years Verna (Steffen.) Both were 1954 graduates of Stillwater High School and married on May 18th, 1957. Irv worked at Bloom Motor Company in downtown Stillwater until 1972 when he began his career at 3M. His 3M career moved he and his family to South Bend, Indiana and then to the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area where he became an avid Green Bay Packer fan. After his retirement from 3M, he and Verna moved back to Woodbury, Minnesota in 2001 to be closer to family and old friends, but he remained a die-hard Packer fan.
Irv so loved his family and friends, laughter, dogs, sports and the outdoors. His paradise was his beloved property in Northern Minnesota surrounded by family (dogs included) and friends or just being there alone to enjoy the peacefulness of the woods and wildlife. Irv was always there to help out a friend, neighbor or family member to fix, repair or maintain whatever was needed. He found humor in daily life which served him well for his 89 years.
Irv is preceded in death by his wife, Verna H. Bloom; parents, Irving E. Bloom, Dorthy Bloom (Mulvey); siblings, Dulcie (Joe) Ramey, Helen (Dick) Cool, and Rozella Bloom.
Survived by his brother, Steve (Dawn) Bloom; children, Sue (Denny) Malecha, Sheri (Mike) Garcia, John (Janice) Bloom; grandchildren, Ed (Tabitha) Garcia, Nick (Mel) Garcia, Tricia (Scott) O'Dell, John (Jon) Malecha, Dale (Hallie) Malecha and Katie Bloom; great grandchildren, Xander Garcia and Allegra Garcia.
Celebration of Life 11am Tuesday, January 6th at Bradshaw, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd., Stillwater, with visitation beginning at 10am and a 12noon luncheon. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Stillwater.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association directly or to the family who will make donations to the Alzheimer's association and to The Moments Memory Care in Lakeville and Minnesota Hospice who passionately and lovingly cared for Irv in his last days.
