James Perry Gardner

November 18, 1940 — April 26, 2025

Age 84, of White Bear Lake, passed away April 26, 2025.

Preceded in death by son, Matthew. Survived by wife of 60 years, Joan; children, James, Jr. "Jamie" (Cindy) and Lawrence "Larry"; grandchildren, Benjamin Perry, Nicholas James and Molly Elizabeth.

A graduate of Saint Paul Academy and Yale University, Jim's vocation was banking and real estate management. His passion was for assisting organizations that improve the outcomes for children and young adults with an additional interest in Prader-Willi Syndrome due to his son, Larry. His proudest achievement was co-founding Mounds Park Academy. He also had a lifelong commitment to the YMCA Camp Widjiwagen, YMCA Camp Du Nord and to the Science Museum of Minnesota. He served on may boards as treasurer knowing that a balanced budget was essential to success. He was always ready for a trip visiting more than 60 countries, including a special love of African safaris with his wife and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and ginger peachy ice cream.

Memorial service Monday, June 2, 2025, 11:00 A.M. at St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church, 2175 1st Street, White Bear Lake.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mounds Park Academy, YMCA Camp Widjiwagen or Science Museum of Minnesota.
