James Thurber

Age 54, of St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away on August 3, 2025.

James was born on June 28th, 1971, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Dale B. and Elisabeth Thurber. He was brought into God's Kingdom of Grace through the sacrament of Holy Baptism as an infant, and later confirmed in the christian faith at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of St. Paul, Minnesota. James enjoyed serving the Lord, sharing His Word, and praising His name. James also enjoyed hunting, fishing, living, and relaxing with family and friends in the northern woods of Wisconsin and Minnesota. James was a hard worker and held many jobs. He was an important and most respected part of the community.

James died due to a brutal assault that ultimately took his life, August 3rd, 2025.

James is preceded in death by father, Dale B. Thurber.

He is survived by mother, Lis; sisters, Laura (Jay) Alexander, and Donna (Lonnie) Howard; daughter, Megan (Andrew) Fritz; a wonderful grandson, Asher; and equally wonderful and much loved nephews, Cody Wayne, Austen Lee Hall, and Dale John Howard. James leaves behind with heavy hearts aunts, uncles, many loving cousins, and long time companion and significant other Sandra Hoff.

James's sudden death will leave a void in many people's lives and will be missed in many ways by many different people whose life's he has touched.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. James Thurber will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 1:00 PM at Bradshaw (1078 Rice Street). Luncheon to follow.
