Jean was born on June 22, 1935, in Worthington, Minnesota, to Constantine and Harriet (Pacey) Salzman. She was raised in Melrose, Minnesota, where she met and married Donald Seep on January 8, 1955, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Don and Jean were married 61 years. Jean was a busy mother, raising six children. She lived sixty years in their home in south Minneapolis, 9 of those on her own. She was a member of St. Helena for those sixty years as well. Jean enjoyed baking and sharing her treats with family and friends. Making crafts, such as knitting and embroidery, gave her a sense of accomplishment. In recent years, she helped make and hem quilts for St. Helena’s Fall Festival raffle. She also served at the church’s Senior Luncheons. Jean loved cooking meals for her loved ones, spending time at her parents’ lake cottage, and playing cards with family and friends. She was a hard worker at everything she set her mind to. Among various part-time jobs, Jean was an Avon Lady for 45 years and ran a Day Care in their home. Her friendships from all walks of life always meant a great deal to her. We celebrated her 90th birthday this June with a party at the church. It was a blessing to her to be with and hear from so many of her friends and family. Jean faced many hardships and heartaches with strength and without complaint. She was tough and resilient—much like the plants she kept alive for decades. Sadly, Jean couldn’t live alone any longer and passed away at Catholic Eldercare in northeast Minneapolis on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, after being there less than a month. Jean was loved and will be missed by many. Memorial Mass will be held Monday, November 24th at 11:00 a.m., at Church of St. Helena, 3204 East 43rd Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota, with Visitation at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the Mass. Private interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on December 2nd . Jean is survived by her sister, Irene Hopkins; children, Linda (David) MacKinnon, James (Maria) Seep, Diane Seep; daughters-in-law, Kathy Seep and Kimberly Kane-Seep; grandchildren, Justin (Valerie) MacKinnon, Karen (Micah) Seuferer, Jessica Parker, Michele (Brett) Harrison; great-grandchildren, Rex MacKinnon, Whitley Harrison, Henry MacKinnon, Elliot Seuferer, Zoey Harrison, Greyson Seuferer; brother-in-law, Robert Kilian; many nephews and nieces; many dear friends.
