Joan Marie Derks (Fangel)

Passed away on 10/12/2026 at the age of 69

Joan (Joanie) grew up in Como Park, St. Paul Minnesota and worked for over 20 years at Mancinis Steak House. She enjoyed a great life with her husband Jack Derks for over 29 years. They enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home and spending time at their winter home in Arizona. Joan loved to entertain and hosted many parties for family and friends. She loved to go fishing, play cards and frequented several places for bingo. Joan's family and friends loved her morning inspirational posts and her daily calls. She had a big heart and had a gift for helping those in need. Joan loved her 2 Dogs, Lexi and Bentley and called them her kids.

She is survived by her siblings; Greg Fangel (Liz Wagner), Barb Fangel, Steve Fangel (Colleen Libhardt), Patti Welter and Kathy Cahalan, along with nephews and nieces; Jeremiah Welter, Joe (Melynda) Falkowski, Shayne Cahalan, Danielle Falkowski, Tony Fangel, Keeli Cahalan, Shelly (Jesse) Willey, and Gina Fangel. Also survived by stepdaughter Jodie L Derks-Boston, and brothers in law Jim (Diane) Derks, and Larry (Jackie) Derks.

Preceded in death by her husband Jack Derks and her parents Leo and Helen Fangel.

In lieu of a traditional service, Joan's wish was for a Big Party.
