Joan Harriet (Swalin) Eclov

Joan Harriet (Swalin) Eclov, age 91, of St. Paul, MN passed away on July 5, 2026.

Born in 1934, in Pomeroy, Iowa, to parents Oscar and Mabel Swalin, Joan was a long-time resident of the Twin Cities, Minnesota where she had a deep connection with Salem Covenant Church of New Brighton. She was a gracious lady with a strong faith and devoted to her family and friends. Growing up in Iowa she was captain of her basketball team and in later years reconnected with her love of the sport watching the Lynx and Timberwolves. With her spouse, she had a deep appreciation of beauty, gardens, & reading. She loved to hike the North Shore and created a deep love in her family for Cascade State Park and Grand Marais. 

Beloved by spouse Homer Paul Eclov (1933-2019) and sons, Jon (Theresa) and Timothy (Cathryn Reher); daughter Kris (Mike) Juaire; grandchildren, Neville Eclov, Elspeth Puffer, Oscar Eclov-Reher, Emma Eclov-Reher, Hanna Juaire, Josh Juaire, Kati Davis and Emily Juaire; great grandchildren, Isobel Eclov, Veronica Eclov, Theodore Puffer and Samuel Puffer. 

A memorial service will be held Monday, September 21st, 2026 at 11:00 AM, at Salem Covenant Church, 2655 5th St NW, New Brighton, MN. A visitation one hour prior at 10:00 AM. A private interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.

Joan will be most remembered for her quiet love and care for others.
