Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 10, 2022, age 77. Preceded in death by parents, Bud and Mickey. Survived by wife of 33 years, Jeanine; sister, Naomi (Tom) McLeod; sons, Brian (Becky) and Mark (Jennifer); step-children, Jim (Sarah) Ecker, Jill (Bob) Gitar, and Jeanie Stake; grandchildren, Madison and Luke; step-grandchildren, Justin, Romy, Joel, Rob, Bret, Reece, Anneka, and James. Joel was a caring and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who always kept his sense of humor.  He loved being on the water where he served in the Navy and lived on the St. Croix River for much of his life. Graveside Service Thursday, August 25, 11:45 A.M. at FORT SNELLING NATIONAL CEMETERY.
