Preceded in death by his siblings; and children, Cindy Kastama and Robert Achterling.

Survived by children, Mike Frascone, John, Jr., David and Jeffrey Achterling, Nancy Thomason and Colleen Odegard; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

John retired after 48 years at Kemps Ice Cream.

Private family interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
