John Axel Hedback

John Axel Hedback passed away peacefully September 1, 2026 in Shoreview, MN from complications with Parkinsons disease. He was born in Chicago, IL on August 27, 1956 to John and Magel Hedback.

John grew up in St Paul, MN graduating from Minnehaha Academy. He attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a BA in political science and Latin.

John met the love of his life, Peggy, while they both attended William Mitchell College of Law. Married in 1981, after graduating in 1982 they were both licensed to practice law in the State of MN. A highly respected lawyer, John was proud to work hand in hand with his wife for most of their careers and was appointed as a Chapter 7 Panel trustee in 1987.

Outwardly, a conventional man of his era, Axel was wonderfully eccentric with an array of passions. He took a delight in reading all sorts of fiction, language, history, the outdoors, art, food, culture, travel, and especially music.

John and Peggy started a family in 1984 and he found his defining purpose, being a loving husband and father of three. While running his own practice John was ever present in his children's lives. He fully engrossed himself into many new activities so be able to share in their joy.

John was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Peggy; his children Janine, Phillip, and Steven; and his sister Anne Slavicek.

Friends and family are invited to the Presbyterian Church of the Way on September 8, 2026 at 11:00 am, visitation at 10:00am. For those who cannot attend but wish to see the service, a recording will be available.
