John Thomas Patrick Wiklund, known to family and friends as Tom, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 22, 2026. He was 82.
Tom was born on October 14, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas, to Myron and Betty Wiklund. A standout athlete, he excelled in baseball, basketball, and golf. He especially enjoyed teaching his daughter to play tennis at an early age, a gift of time, patience, and shared joy that became a lasting bond.
Tom had a long and distinguished career in commercial lending in the Upper Midwest. He was a commercial banking manager for many years and served as Midwest Region Chief Lending Officer at Wells Fargo Bank prior to his retirement in 2006. He was a respected manager, mentor, and friend to his colleagues.
After retirement, Tom found great joy in traveling. He explored the world on his favorite cruise line with his wife and dear friends Charlie and Sharon, including an unforgettable six-month around-the-world cruise.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose life was grounded in the values he carried throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Joan Wiklund (Peterson), whom he respected, admired, and adored. After almost nine years apart, Tom has now joined his wife once again.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Kim Wiklund; his cherished granddaughters, Danielle Chevalier (Jack Sebben) and Neala Chevalier (Joshua Chen); his siblings, Myron (Gerry), Laurie, Terry (Clint), and Gary (Pam); sisters-in-law Carolyn Tuttle and Kay Palazzari (Peter); close family friend Michael Teibel; and extended family.
Tom leaves behind a legacy of love and shared journeys and is now at peace, reunited with his beloved wife, and forever held in the hearts of those who loved him.
