It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Karen Ogren, age 84, of Stillwater, MN. Karen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 1, 2026.
Karen was the beloved daughter of Irving and Angeline Lind of Bayport. She was a lifelong learner, loved to read, go for walks, play cards and was an avid bird watcher. Her greatest love was her family and above all, cherished her role as ‘Nana.’ Preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jim and John Lind. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 64 years, David: children, Jeff Ogren and Angie Sorum: grandchildren, Jonathan (Mercedes), Nicholas and Benjamin; great grandchildren, Harper and Anakin; brothers, Eric (Linda) Lind and Tom Lind; dear nieces, other family and friends. Karen graduated from Stillwater High School in 1959 and married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life, David Ogren.
Deeply grounded in her faith, Karen was a devoted wife and mother and built a life around giving to others without measure. Karen spent her younger years as an administrative assistant throughout schools, churches and organizations in the St. Croix Valley area. She finally landed at the House of Representatives doing what she loved. Karen retired when her grandchildren arrived to be with family. Her continued commitment to service was evident as she continued to volunteer in hospitals, schools and community organizations throughout Stillwater. In 2012 she was awarded the Community Involvement award for Excellence in Volunteering and continued to give to others until she could no longer.
Karen’s greatest love of all was her family and grandchildren and great grandchildren. She stayed true to her spirit until the very end and encompassed family like no other, devoted wife to Dad, immeasurable Mom, Nana, Auntie Karen, sister, friend and community servant, the epitome of grace until the very end.
