Died peacefully at home on June 2, 2024. Karen was born August 29, 1942 to parents, James Hetchler and Edna (Thompson) Hetchler. Karen was preceded in death by her mother and father; her adoptive parents, Ralph and Carol Thompson of Cloquet, MN; and her brothers, James F. Hetchler and John C. Thompson; sister, Marilyn Heathcote; and brothers-in-law, Jim Heathcote and Virgil Heydt. She is survived by her loving husband, Marlin; daughter, Lisa; son, Mark; step-children, Sheryl (Dan), Kevin (Kristi), Diane (Jon), Karrie (Tom); 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Laurene Heydt; brother, Tim (Leslie) Hetchler; many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 11:00am Saturday, June 8 at NEWPORT LUTHERAN CHURCH, 900 15th Street, Newport, with visitation one hour prior. Memorials preferred to church or Accent Care Hospice.
