Lanny L. Anderson

Age 81 of Vadnais Heights passed away on 2/13/2026.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Dave and Terry; niece Tracy; and other beloved family.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 43 years Mary Jo; son Jonathan; brothers Greg, Rick, and Rob; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Lanny was born in Lubbock, TX but grew up in Sioux Falls, SD and Saint Paul, MN. He spent over 20 years in both the Army and the Army National Guard. Lanny had a long and fulfilling career at Burlington Northern Railroad, dedicating over 35 years to the company. Lanny met the love of his life in Fargo, ND in 1980 and married her in the fall of 1982. Mary Jo and Lanny expanded their family with the birth of their pride and joy, Jon in 1984.

Lanny was a doting husband and a devoted father, making it a priority to attend all of Jon's hockey games growing up. He made it a point to share his love of the outdoors with his family, taking them camping in the Black Hills 10 years in a row! When he wasn't spending time with his family, you could find Lanny enjoying a history documentary. He was an exceedingly smart and kind man, his loss is felt in the hearts of all those that love him.

A service celebrating Lanny's life will be held at St Andrews Lutheran Church, 900 Stillwater Road, Mahtomedi, on Monday February 23rd at 11am with a visitation an hour prior.
