LaVerne Harry Parsons

Laverne "Larry" Parsons, 96 years old, residing in Mahtomedi, MN, formerly of Holcombe, WI, died on 6-26-2026 of pancreatic cancer and age related complications.

Larry was born in October of 1929, in Holcombe, WI. He joked that when he graduated from school, he likely did so with the highest number of absent days, due to his helping out his family.

He spent winters working in the family business of cutting and storing up ice to deliver and sell in the summers, harvesting and selling Christmas trees, and helping out on their subsistence farm.

He served in the Navy from 1951-1954, being honorably discharged. Following this, Larry responded to a newspaper ad looking for technicians to work for IBM. With the training he received in the Navy, and his farm boy common sense, he was hired and worked there as a field technician repairing computers, printers, card readers, and memory systems from 1955-1986. While working at IBM, he met and married his first wife, Mary Lou Boros, and in 1961 their son David was born. Father and son grew up together and enjoyed tinkering with things, building a house, as well as repairing and restoring various cars over the years. Responsibility, common sense and mechanical curiosity were passed from father to son. After retiring from IBM he enjoyed travel and wintering in Arizona, where he met and married his second wife, Shirley Frindt.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Parsons and Mary Jane Inez Aitken, as well as his brothers Herbert "Herb" Parsons, William "Bill" Parsons, and sister Shirley Danielson, as well as his first wife, Mary Lou Parsons (Boros) and Shirley Parsons (Frindt). He is survived by his son, David Parsons and his wife Nancy, his sister Jean Richtmyer, and his cousin Paul Oman.

He will be laid to rest at the Lake Holcombe cemetery.
