Laverne Dennis Thoreson, 88, passed away on October 24, 2026. He was born on September 29, 1938, in Minot, North Dakota, to Hjalmer and Nanna Thoreson.

Laverne dedicated his career to education as a longtime teacher in the Minnetonka School District. He had a gift for reaching his students, and many of them carried his lessons with them long after they left his classroom.

He shared 64 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Bev. In retirement they divided their time between Minnesota and Arizona, enjoying the best of both seasons together.

Retirement gave Laverne more time on the golf course, a passion he enjoyed in both of the places he called home. He was also a skilled woodworker who loved creating pieces by hand, and the work he made will continue to be treasured by family and friends.

Laverne is survived by his wife Bev, along with close brother-in-law and his wife, and many treasured nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hjalmer and Nanna Thoreson, and his brother, Hub.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at Bradshaw Funeral Home, 4600 Greenhaven Drive, White Bear Lake, MN 55127. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the service to follow.
