Passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2014. Preceded in death by parents, Theodore and Hilda (Riesselman) Halbur and daughter, Amy Elizabeth. Survived by children, Kris (Neil) Brown, Julie (Mark) Lorenson and Tom (Kim) Halbur and their mother, Norma Halbur; grandchildren, Derek &Nicole Brown and Kacie & Josh Lorenson; siblings, Marlowe Halbur, Marilyn Webb, Liz Salazar and Donna (Raul) Saavedra. He will be missed by his special friend, Alice Vignalo. Born March 25, 1935 in Naper, NE. Graduated from Butte High School in Butte, NE in 1952 and Creighton University in Omaha, NE in 1956. Served in the Army from 1956-1959. He worked in the Insurance industry for many years until his retirement. Larry loved spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, sports, reading and playing cards (especially cribbage). Longtime member of the American Legion and Eagles Club of New Brighton and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, 11:00AM at ST.JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHOLIC CHURCH, 835 Second Avenue So., New Brighton. A gathering of friends and family will be immediately following Mass at the New Brighton Eagles Club, 563 Old Highway 8 NW. Visitation Wednesday, 4-7pm at METHVEN TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME MILLER-BRIGHTON CHAPEL, 706 Fourth Avenue N.W. and also one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment Ft Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred.
