Age 85, formerly of Arden Hills, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; son, Tony; brothers, Donald, and James; and sister, Elaine.
Larry was born in Pipestone, MN, and later moved to White Bear Lake, MN, where he graduated from high school. He began working in the banking industry in 1960, starting his career as a teller. Over the years, he held various roles at multiple banks and was eventually named President and CEO of Capital Bank in 1991, located on Rice Street in St. Paul. Larry was devoted to serving businesses in the community and was active in local business networks and Kiwanis. He retired in 2006 but returned to banking for a few more years before officially retiring.
Early in his career, Larry met his wife, Judy. They first lived in the Como area of St. Paul before settling in Arden Hills, where they raised their three children and shared their home with many beloved dogs. The family also enjoyed summers and weekends at their lake home in Turtle Lake, WI.
In 1994, Larry was honored to serve as the Prince of the North Wind in the St. Paul Winter Carnival’s Royal Family, and he remained active in Carnival events for many years.
Larry loved being outdoors, tending to his yard, golfing, and playing racquetball. He was also a devoted fan of Minnesota sports, especially the Vikings.
He is survived by his children, Barry (Jennefer) and Paige (Max) Carter; grandchildren Nicholas, Alexander, Zachary, and Jacob; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Gloria (Randy) Johnson; his brother, David (Jayme) Steele; and many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 24, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Odilia Catholic Church, 3495 Victoria Street North, Shoreview. Visitation will take place Sunday, November 23, from 4:00–7:00 P.M. at Bradshaw, 1078 Rice at Magnolia, St. Paul, and one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
