Leland Botzet, 72, left this world peacefully at home with family by his side on June 6, 2026, in Shoreview, MN. Leland was born in 1954, in St. Paul, MN, and lived a life marked by the transforming work of Christ, love for his family, and devotion to his call into ministry.

Leland is preceded in death by his mother (Grace Graham), step-father, and step-sister. He leaves behind his beautiful and supportive wife of 45 years, Nancy, who was his loving companion and partner in all things. He is also survived by his three wonderful children: Eric (Jordan), Jennifer, and Micah (Alyssa) and his brother David. Leland was also the very proud grandfather of five multi-talented, brilliant, and exuberant grandchildren.

Leland's journey was one of faithfulness and dedication. Following his service in the US Air Force, he pursued a career as a civil engineer and land surveyor before answering a call into vocational ministry. He earned his MDiv from Bethel Seminary and a DMin from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, authoring the book A Heart for God's Glory as part of his doctoral work. His ministry took him across the United States and Canada, where he served faithfully in churches in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, and British Columbia. He was ordained with the Baptist General Conference where he also served with the Prayer Commission which took him on trips to the Philippines and Brazil. His pastoral work was characterized by a deep love for God and His Word as well as a desire for others to know Jesus.

Leland's life was a testament to his gracious spirit, commitment, and care for others. He was known for his evangelist heart, love of laughter, enjoyment of studying and reading, and a dedication to those he ministered to inside and outside the church as well as through his extensive work with Prison Fellowship. A man of many talents, Leland's passion for music was evident as a member of A Joyful Noise, a bluegrass Gospel band that shared joy and hope where he sang and played many instruments. He also passed on a love for the outdoors which was shared with his family on many camping trips, particularly to the Boundary Waters.

The Botzet family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible and caring staff at Optage Hospice for their compassionate support and care during Leland's final days.

Leland Botzet leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that exalts Christ and will continue to inspire and guide all who were blessed to know him. May his memory be a source of comfort, hope, and strength as we cherish the moments shared with this remarkable man.

A memorial service to celebrate Leland's life will be announced soon. If desired, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to Prison Fellowship in Leland's honor. Donations can be made at https://secure.prisonfellowship.org/donate/restore.
