LeRoy K. Siegel, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 11th, surrounded by the love of his family.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Siegel, with whom he shared many cherished years; his parents, Walter and Genevieve Siegel; and his sisters, Carolyn Siegel and Gayle Ede. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Mary Jane Siegel; son Scott Siegel (Laura); daughter Laurie Siegel (Bruce Hegland); daughter Jane Brown (Kevin); and stepchildren Debbie Hashem (John); Dawn Gardner (James); Kim Jansen (Ron); John Harrison (Gretchen); and Joe Harrison (Marcie).
LeRoy was a proud and loving grandfather to Brett, Kelly, & Jennifer Thomsen; Jack & Josh Brown; step-grandfather to Kimberly & Kristopher Gardner; Matthew & Katie Jansen; Carter, Rylee, Patrick & Anna Harrison; Dana, Ian & Leila Hashem, along with several great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy.
LeRoy graduated from Washburn High School in 1955 and earned his master's degree from the University of Minnesota. He also served his country honorably in the United States Army.
LeRoy spent his career in public service with the Minnesota Department of Corrections, where he worked faithfully until retiring. He was respected throughout the department for his professionalism, steady leadership, and integrity.
LeRoy was an avid Minnesota sports fan, especially the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Minnesota State Boys Basketball Tournament, where he held long-standing season tickets and rarely missed a game.
A special thanks to Ron and Kim Jansen, whose care, love, and constant support as family brought LeRoy comfort and strength, especially in his later years. Their presence made a meaningful and lasting difference, and LeRoy cherished the bond they shared.
LeRoy will be remembered not only for his kindness and steady presence but also for his amazing sense of humor, which brightened every room and brought laughter to all who knew him. His legacy of love, generosity, and warmth will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22nd, with Visitation at 1:00 PM, Service at 2:00 PM at Bradshaw Funeral Home, 1078 Rice St., St. Paul, MN 55117. Please wear your favorite Gopher attire in honor of LeRoy!
A private burial service for immediate family will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
